Back in February I wrote a lengthy blog post about Sonicbids. In that post I suggested some changes that could be made to improve Sonicbids, one of which was:
- Make Sonicbids THE place where artists update all of their sites: MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Right now ReverbNation and ArtistData are battling it out for supremacy in this field, but Sonicbids has the membership base and resources to win outright, and they could add incredible value for their members in the process.
Well, instead of trying to beat out ReverbNation and ArtistData in this field, Sonicbids simply acquired ArtistData. This is a smart move on several fronts. For one, they now have the ArtistData technology which will add tremendous value to their membership. But by bringing on ArtistData founder Brenden Mulligan as VP Strategic Development, they also get someone who can take the Sonicbids site and technology to the next level, something they haven’t quite been able to do in recent years.
I get the feeling the Sonicbids site is about to get leaner and meaner in the near future…
Cheers,
Dave

Yeah, it is cool to think about, but when the heck is it finally going to actually happen? Have been using ArtistData for months, don’t really love it, was excited and had renewed faith when Sonicbids acquired it… am waiting rather impatiently now for the tools to be available within Sonicbids. Still can’t even sync to Sonicbids using ArtistData!
From what I’ve heard, they are going to make the changes this Fall sometime. Other improvements to the back-end of the site are being made as well. We’ll see…
great idea in principle. but the tightwads at sonic can’t make it work and are already counting their ill gotten gains by milking starving indie artists for funds. sonicbids and artistdata can’t seem to interface services… but… they seem to be able to share their clients secure financial information: credit cards, paypal, etc. w/o problems or direct authorization from clients. the interface DOES NOT WORK AFTER 3 MONTHS!! bullshit. reverbnation looks better works better and is either free or less expensive depending upon what route you take. their staff is quicker to respond and fix things. we’ll see no changes with sonic. i been with them on and off six years and finally told them to fuck themselves after they botched the artist data merger in terms of making services available to thier clients. you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression and i’ve given sonic enough rope and money to hang it self several thousand times. go reverbnation and leave these scroungers and chislers to thier own bs that i think they actually beleive.
Thanks for your comment Sean, and I totally agree!
Cheers,
DC
One full year later & still nothing. I REALLY don’t wanna learn a whole new platform (i.e. Reverbnation), and my experience with them has only been annoying. I’ve seen a few things that make their EPKs look a little more professional, so I may need to make the switch. Unfortunately a lot of big gigs exclusively book through Sonicbids (i.e. Summerfest in Milwaukee, Bonnaroo for indies, etc.).
Oh well, I guess we can’t have everything!
well hello there. came across this post of yours while trying to figure out how to sync ArtistData to Sonicbids… apparently still does not work. Really hope they sort it out soon!
